Big Girl Small- Letter to Author

     Dear Ms. Rachel DeWoskin,

Your book Big Girl Small was a great read. Judy is such a strong character who uses her sarcasm to keep her strong. She really inspired me though to never give up although for a while she did run away; she still went back home and faced her fears until everything was all better. That made me realize no matter what happens if you work things out everything will always turn out okay and you just have to forgive, forget, and move on. Life is too short not to.I really enjoyed how the book starts from the end and leads further and further to how she got to where she was for most of the book. Although it was very interesting the way that book was set up, I was easily confused at the beginning before I understood how this type of writing worked. Other than that one disadvantage, Big Girl Small was an excellent read and I would definitely recommend it to others!

Sincerely,
Annie Backs

Big Girl Small

Characters are the base of a story; They soak up all of the spot-light as if they were a sponge in a puddle after it had rained. Judy Lohen develops as a young adult throughout Big Girl Small. Going through life's obstacles can make things hard to know what to do next. I guess that's why we learn so many lessons; Honestly who ever learned anything from being perfect? That's why Judy's life completely turned around when Kyle took away all of her dignity...forcing her to make terrifying, but later helpful decisions that impacted her whole life. Trusting someone too soon can often lead to betrayal, it
washes in someones sorrow, a life full of mistakes and makes you breathe in the regret. Judy thought that Kyle loved her and sometimes you just need to look at the reality of things even though they may be hiding in the corner where you can't see them. Try your hardest to make the right decision. Don't listen to that little devil in the back of your head that's telling you it's okay because you know it isn't and you life will become locked up, a horrible realization and uncertainty will come around your thoughts and embed themselves deep into your brain so that you never forget.
